(Right) 13 hours later, nine beautiful puppies! here they are dozing on hot water bottles whilst we clean up.
Friday 3rd December 2010 - Day One

Amy with her puppies in their whelping box - Each puppy has a foam tied collar for id purposes which will be replaced with an adjustable baby puppy collar in the next few days.

The boys have collars of: Red, Purple, Blue, Green & Lime Green - The girls have collars of: Yellow, pink, lilac & peach

Saturday 4th December 2010 - Day Two

Amy only has eight teats so feeding time happens in two stages - Puppies seem to love to lye on top of each other

All those pink noses will soon turn black over the next few weeks as well as the pads on their feet too

Chloe our eldest who's four, cuddling one of the pups - everyone else is in doze mode!
Sunday 5th December 2010 - Day Three

Can you count all nine pups in each photo?
Pup One - Male - Red ID Collar

Pup Two - Male - Purple ID Collar

Pup Three - Female - Yellow ID Collar

Pup Four - Female - Pink ID Collar

Pup Five - Male - Blue ID Collar

Pup Six - Male - Green ID Collar

Pup Seven - Female - Lilac ID Collar

Pup Eight - Male - Lime Green ID Collar

Pup Nine - Female - Peach ID Collar

As these pictures of the pups show, they are very similarly marked all with white paws, white tail tips and nice white head markings. One or two have Belgian kisses on their necks which will shrink and long nails which is my next job to do, trim them!
Monday 6th December 2010 - Day Four

Lots of sleeping puppies today, both Amy and the Pups are doing nicely and the pups are putting on weight at each weigh in which is great news.
For those of you who are wondering about the pups current living area, they are in a 5½ft by 6ft UPVC White whelping box which slots together as panels with a double floor. Upon this the whelping box is lined to half way up the sides with Non Slip Vinyl which is the grey bit you can probably see in the pictures, this makes the whelping box liquid proof and upon that are fleecy vet bed whelping mats which have a stiff back to keep them flat in the base of the whelping box. Around the sides are plastic pipe pig rails to stop the pups getting squashed should they go behind Amy when she's lying down. Above the whelping box is a 250w heat lamp and the room is currently being kept at 26oc.
Tuesday 7th December 2010 - Day Five

(Left - Right) Amy feeding the Snow Litter and one pup having a lovely sleep, how cute!

The Boys - Mr Blue, Mr Green, Mr Lime Green, Mr Purple and Mr Red

The Boys: Mr Green, Mr Lime Green, Mr Blue, Mr Red & Mr Purple

The Girls: Miss Pink, Miss Lilac, Miss Peach & Miss Yellow

The Girls: Miss Pink, Miss Lilac, Miss Peach & Miss Yellow
You wouldn't believe how many outtakes it took to get the above photos, these pups, espeically the girls were having none of the lining up!
As you can see the black pigmentation is now appearing on the some of the puppies noses and will continue to do so over the next few weeks until they have full black noses. The pads on the feet are the same and begin as pink and slowly go black but not all Bernese have a full set of completely black pads.
Wednesday 8th December 2010 - Day Six

(Left - Right) Mr Blue Dreaming of Titty, his tongue was actually moving whilst he was sleeping!!
& Mr Lime Green curled up asleep.

(Left - Right) Happy Dozing - Learning to walk, Miss Lilac has a go

(Left - Right) Mr Purple and Mr Red enjoying a sleep & Mr Purple stretching just like a fat bellied pony?
