Amy is known to many as an amazing Bernese who has produced better than herself. She was bred by Lynn
Keegan from the Malynncastle kennels in 2007. She has
a lovely temperament and plenty of spirit. From the day we brought Amy home as an 8 week old puppy
she's always been very fond of her Great Uncle Harvey and
the two are always together. Over the years the excited playing has turned into restful companionship.
Amy achieved her
Bronze Kennel Club Good Citizen Award at 5 months, her Silver
at 17
months and her gold at 2½ years old. She has been shown
since she was 6 months old and at her very first show she achieved
Best Puppy in Breed and went on to take a 4th in the Puppy Working
group. She qualified for
Crufts
in 2008 & 2009 & 2011,
sadly missing Crufts in 2008 due
to being in season but in 2009 she got a 3rd in the Good
Citizen Bitch class. In 2011 she was unable to attend Crufts being out of coat after having had her second litter, known as the Snow Litter.
Amy is only lightly shown these days as she doesn't enjoy it, on a rare appearance she is shown by Philippa. She is a very good carting dog but during 2011 decided that she didn't want to cart either, when she does cart she's worked by Mervyn. Amy has also done obedience and agility but as with the showing and carting her heart isn't in it and she makes it very obvious to everyone around her that she doesn't want to do it.
2009 was her first carting year and at her
first carting
competition she got a 3rd in the Beginners Carting and passed.
She finished the year having passed her Beginners Carting three
times and moved up to Intermediate level, she finished the year as 2nd Overall Beginners Carting Dog 2009.
In 2010 Mervyn worked Amy on three intermediate caring courses getting a 1st, 2nd & 3rd and finished the year winning the Intermediate carting dog 2010. She is now an Advanced Carting Dog and started her 2011 carting season in a strong position, but Amy being Amy decided she didn't really want to cart anymore. She has a calm working
attitude and could be a Top Carting Dog if only she wanted to do it.
Amy
had her first litter of puppies at a little over 2½ years
old on 1st November 2009, sired by Champion Jaybiem
UTwo JW SHCM, this was our Halloween Litter. Amy proved to be an excellent Mother putting everything
into her puppies and nothing on herself.
Pictured (Left) is Amy
at 8 weeks in whelp, with the Halloween Litter. She had eight puppies, five females & three
males.
Being only a small bitch we were amazed that she naturally whelped
eight
lovely sized puppies with super markings and that she was carrying
so many, of which we kept our Merlin. At 3½ Years old she whelped naturally her second litter the Snow Litter, sired by Goodboy Van't Stokerybos, consisting of 5 boys and 4 girls, of which we kept our Anna. At 4½ Years old she whelped naturally her third litter, the Irish litter, sired by Irish Champion Kinelarty Midnight Star Gaze, which consisted of 3 boys and 1 girl of which we kept Bailey. Then soon after her 7th Birthday she whelped two boys, our Russian Boys Litter sired by our Russian Import, Henry, Millenium Star Email Of Happiness At Pasturegreen, another naturally whelped litter.
As a brood Amy has produced 23 super puppies, all classically marked and larger than herself, with excellant temperaments and bone. A number of her puppies have done well in the show ring. We kept a puppy out of the first three litters Amy had and remain in regular contact with all her puppies families.
Today Amy remains a strong pack leader of our Bernese here at Pasturegreen. She still has the speed to out run all our Bernese in chase after a rabbit and is still very nibble on her paws should she wish to be. She likes to take life easy these days and would much rather watch her pack than be competing around the country in competitions. She's continues to be a very loyal, loving, healthy, beloved pet and a joy to own.
